State Licensed Deputy General Counsel
Job Summary
To lead legal strategy and provide day-to-day counsel across Privacy, Compliance, Product Legal, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the full-time, remote VP - Deputy General Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to various teams, manage legal approaches to data protection and cybersecurity, and oversee the responsible development of data-driven products.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams on new features and compliance-related questions
- Provide legal guidance on U.S. and global privacy laws, cybersecurity regulations, and emerging issues related to AI and data ethics
- Lead legal responses to privacy and cybersecurity incidents, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
- Active license to practice law in good standing in the attorney's state of residence
- Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) and familiarity with global frameworks such as GDPR
- Experience leading or supporting cybersecurity incident response efforts
