Job Summary
Leading complex litigation initiatives, the temporary full-time State Licensed Directing Attorney will independently manage case development, oversee legal staff, and engage in public communications while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Generate and lead new litigation opportunities to ensure access to public benefits for children and families
- Oversee all aspects of complex litigation, including legal research, client engagement, and trial work across multiple jurisdictions
- Manage case budgets and collaborate with NCYL leadership to align litigation with organizational goals
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and member in good standing of the bar of at least one state
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience or 10 years with demonstrated success in leading impact litigation in at least three jurisdictions
- Experience in complex litigation involving children's civil rights and public systems affecting youth
- Strong leadership and project management skills for overseeing legal staff and complex projects
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a focus on social justice advocacy
