Job Summary
Supporting compliance-related initiatives, the full-time remote Mortgage Regulatory Counsel will provide legal interpretation and guidance on mortgage regulatory requirements, focusing on fees, disclosures, and document matters while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal resource for fee, disclosure, and document matters by interpreting federal and state mortgage regulations
- Conduct legal research and analysis on mortgage regulatory questions, providing practical guidance for Compliance and other teams
- Evaluate system configurations and workflows to ensure they meet legal and regulatory requirements
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Experience in mortgage, consumer financial services, or regulatory compliance with advanced knowledge of mortgage regulations
- Familiarity with loan origination systems and document-vendor integrations is preferred
- Advanced legal research and analytical skills, particularly in interpreting complex regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills for translating legal concepts into actionable guidance for various stakeholders
