State Licensed Product Counsel

Job Summary

Serving as the primary legal partner to Product and Engineering teams, the full-time remote Director, Product Counsel will manage legal considerations across the product lifecycle, advise on regulatory compliance, and help establish legal frameworks to support the company's growth.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the dedicated legal advisor during roadmap planning, design reviews, and product launches
• Guide product decisions regarding privacy, data governance, and AI-related legal issues
• Develop scalable legal processes and manage outside counsel relationships as needed

Required qualifications

• J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
• 10+ years of relevant legal experience supporting technology products and commercial transactions
• Deep knowledge of privacy and data protection frameworks, including GDPR and CCPA
• Experience in negotiating complex commercial agreements and strategic partnerships
• Familiarity with export control regulations and open-source software licensing
