State Licensed Underwriter III

Job Summary

To ensure compliance and assess risk, the full-time remote State Licensed Underwriter III will review and evaluate conventional, FHA, VA, and specialty product loans, providing consistent credit quality and customer service throughout the mortgage loan approval process.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive loan file reviews, including credit analysis, asset and debt evaluation, and collateral review
• Confirm loan compliance with lender and regulatory guidelines, issuing conditional approvals as necessary
• Communicate effectively with Loan Originators, Processors, and other stakeholders regarding underwriting decisions and guidelines

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years' experience underwriting conventional, FHA, and VA mortgage loans
• Licenses/Certifications: Direct Endorsement (DE); Staff Appraisal Reviewer/Lender Appraisal Processing Program (SAR/LAPP), VA Credit Authority
• Strong understanding of investor, agency, and government guidelines and systems
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage sensitive information
