Surgical Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

Monitoring surgical case authorizations, the full-time Surgical Authorization Specialist will ensure timely and accurate processing of authorizations, verify patient information and insurance eligibility, and assist in surgical cost analysis, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and obtain authorizations for upcoming surgical cases on physician calendars
• Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, updating necessary information for claims processing
• Document authorizations and progress in patient charts, assisting surgery schedulers with urgent authorizations

Required qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, with a focus on referrals/authorizations
• Knowledge of eligibility verification and prior authorizations from various insurance providers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong organizational skills and customer service orientation
