Surgical Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To support surgical operations, the full-time remote Surgical Authorization Specialist will manage the authorization process for upcoming surgical cases, ensuring timely and accurate verification of patient information and insurance eligibility.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and obtain authorizations for surgical cases on physicians' calendars
• Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, coordinating benefits as necessary
• Document authorizations and progress in patient charts, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, preferably in referrals/authorizations or front office roles
• Strong background in computers and data entry
• Working knowledge of eligibility verification and prior authorizations from various payers
• Excellent organizational skills and a strong customer service orientation
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and co-workers
