Surgical Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure timely and accurate authorizations for surgical cases, the full-time Surgical Authorization Specialist will monitor authorizations, verify patient information and insurance eligibility, and assist with surgical cost analysis in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and obtain authorizations for upcoming surgical cases on physicians' calendars
• Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility, updating necessary information for claims processing
• Document authorizations and progress in patient charts and assist with training staff on new processes

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, preferably in referrals/authorizations or front office roles
• Strong organizational skills and a customer service orientation
• Working knowledge of eligibility, verification of benefits, and prior authorizations from various payers
• Proficient in computer skills and data entry
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
