Surgical Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

Ensuring timely and accurate authorizations for surgical cases, the full-time Surgical Authorization Specialist will manage patient eligibility verification, document authorizations, and assist in surgical cost analysis in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and obtain authorizations for upcoming surgical cases on physicians' calendars
• Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, updating necessary information for claims processing
• Document authorizations and progress in patient charts, while assisting with training staff on new processes

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, with a preference for experience in referrals/authorizations
• Strong organizational skills and customer service orientation
• Working knowledge of eligibility verification and prior authorizations from various payers
• Proficiency in data entry and computer usage
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
