SVP of Legal

Job Summary

To lead Nearmap's global legal function, the full-time SVP of Legal will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, managing commercial contracts, M&A, governance, and compliance across ANZ, North America, and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and scale the global legal function, aligning legal strategy with business priorities and advising the executive leadership team on legal risks and compliance
• Build and mentor a high-performing in-house legal team while managing global commercial contracting, including SaaS agreements and licensing deals
• Oversee M&A legal workstreams, corporate governance, and data privacy compliance across multiple jurisdictions

Required qualifications

• Law degree and current admission to practice in Australia, the United States, or another relevant jurisdiction
• 15+ years of legal experience, including significant time in a senior in-house legal leadership role at a technology or subscription company
• Proven track record in negotiating and closing global commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions
• Strong M&A experience, from due diligence through integration
• Working knowledge of data privacy and security regulations across multiple jurisdictions (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
