Switchboard Operator

Job Summary

To support federal facility operations, the full-time remote Switchboard Operator will manage a multi-line telephone console, route incoming calls, provide general information, and assist with emergency notifications while ensuring professional communication standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and route a high volume of incoming calls promptly and professionally
• Provide accurate information regarding office hours, contact details, and facility services
• Support emergency call protocols and maintain logs for safety-related communications

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum one year of experience with multi-line telephone systems or similar communication roles
• Ability to type at least 30 words per minute and navigate software systems while handling calls
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and web-based directory applications
• Must be a U.S. citizen due to federal security restrictions
