Switchboard Operator

Job Summary

Providing essential communication support, the full-time remote Switchboard Operator will manage a multi-line telephone console, route incoming calls, and offer general information assistance while ensuring professional and timely service for federal facility operations.

Key responsibilities

• Answer a high volume of incoming calls and route them to the appropriate personnel or office
• Provide accurate general information using approved directories and maintain updated contact lists
• Support emergency notification protocols and maintain logs for emergency-related calls

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum one year of experience operating a multi-line telephone system or similar communications position
• Ability to type at least 30 words per minute and navigate software systems while handling calls
• Familiarity with VoIP, PBX, or similar communication systems is preferred
• Must be a U.S. citizen due to federal security restrictions
