System Design Engineer

Job Summary

To support the design and integration of an electromagnetic pump for an advanced nuclear energy project, the contract System Design Engineer will work remotely, focusing on the design, fabrication, and testing of the pump while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the design and development of submersible electromagnetic pumps, ensuring integration into processing systems
• Conduct analyses related to thermal, seismic, and structural performance, integrating results into plant design
• Manage technical documentation and coordinate with design disciplines to specify system performance criteria

Required qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of experience in electromagnetic pumps
• Expertise in thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, and heat transfer within liquid metal environments
• Proficient in COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB, and Aspen HYSYS Plus
• Experience with design codes such as ASME, BPVC, and API, and quality standards like ASME NQA-1
• Previous experience in nuclear reactor systems or high-performance equipment design is highly desired
