System Design Engineer
Job Summary
To support an advanced nuclear energy project, the contract System Design Engineer, EM Pump will remotely oversee the design, fabrication, testing, and integration of a submersible electromagnetic pump while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.
Key responsibilities
- Support all aspects of EM Pump design and development, including oversight of fabrication and operation
- Develop and integrate thermohydraulic models for the EM Pump within the Processing System using Aspen HYSYS Plus
- Provide technical direction and oversight of supplier projects, ensuring compliance with design codes and standards
Required qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of direct experience with electromagnetic pumps
- Expertise in thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, and fluid mechanics, particularly in liquid metal environments
- Proficient in using COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB, and Aspen HYSYS Plus
- Experience with design codes such as ASME, BPVC, and API, as well as quality standards like ASME NQA-1 and ISO 9001
- Previous experience with nuclear reactors or high-performance system design is highly desired
