Systems Administrator

Job Summary

To support the Department of Veterans Affairs, the full-time remote Systems Administrator will manage system administration, maintenance, backup, disaster recovery, and operational support for a large enterprise environment, ensuring the availability and security of systems for over 35,000 users.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-site and remote administration and maintenance support for storage, server, backup, and disaster recovery environments
• Troubleshoot system configurations, apply security patches, and manage system access while monitoring logs and resource utilization
• Create and maintain technical documentation, respond to help-desk tickets, and support disaster-recovery activities

Required qualifications

• Relevant experience administering enterprise Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and storage environments
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software
• Familiarity with enterprise storage and backup technologies such as NetApp or Dell/EMC
• Experience supporting Microsoft SCCM or a comparable systems-management platform
• Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust background investigation at the Tier 2, Moderate Risk level
