Tech Lead Backend Fraud

Job Summary

Owning the technical direction and architecture, the full-time Tech Lead Backend Fraud will lead the engineering delivery of the Fraud subdomain within BVNK's FinCrime domain, focusing on building fraud detection and prevention capabilities while working in a hybrid/remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the fraud engineering architecture, including real-time fraud decision services and event enrichment pipelines
• Build and mentor the fraud engineering squad, establishing coding standards and fostering a healthy engineering culture
• Lead cross-domain technical alignment and drive architecture reviews while overseeing the engineering of automated fraud reporting and metrics pipelines

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience in Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot, including at least 2 years in a Tech Lead or senior technical leadership role
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and experience building microservices with event-driven architectures
• Experience with fraud detection, financial crime, or risk systems, including knowledge of velocity checks and device fingerprinting
• Proven architectural leadership with the ability to define technical vision and lead architecture reviews
• Experience designing real-time decision systems that handle low-latency, high-stakes decisions on live transaction flows
