Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Tech Lead for Planning Systems, this hybrid role will oversee the technical direction and reliability of systems that support student degree planning, scheduling, and registration, ensuring performance during peak loads while evolving the product for career-oriented experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and evolution of planning, pathways, scheduling, and registration systems
• Ensure registration systems perform reliably and efficiently during critical registration periods
• Design systems that manage peak load and concurrency gracefully, including robust testing strategies

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record of leading complex implementations
• Experience operating reliable systems in high-stakes workflows where performance is critical
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database optimization, with PostgreSQL experience preferred
• Comfort with asynchronous/event-based architectures and system design under peak load
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams
