Tech Lead - Forward Deployed Engineering
Job Summary
To raise the technical bar across Magical's Forward Deployed Engineering team, the full-time Tech Lead - Forward Deployed Engineering will tackle complex customer deployments, provide hands-on technical leadership, and coach less experienced engineers while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Lead complex, high-risk customer deployments and engage in hands-on work, including designing workflows and debugging issues
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, reviewing solution designs and implementation plans
- Coach Forward Deployed Engineers to enhance their problem-solving and technical skills while identifying risks and improving practices
Required qualifications
- Significant experience in software engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, or a similar hands-on technical role
- Proven track record as a technical lead or senior contributor in customer-facing software deployments
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations effectively
- Ability to influence and lead engineers without formal management authority
- Deep curiosity about AI agents and automation, with a strong bias toward action
