Tech Lead Manager

Job Summary

As a full-time Tech Lead Manager, the candidate will be responsible for solving complex problems in payroll systems, managing a team, and collaborating closely with product and operations to drive workflow improvements, all while working remotely or in-office in New York City or San Francisco.

Key responsibilities

• Scale systems for payroll calculations, tax payments, and filings as complexity increases
• Design services for money movement and reconciliation, ensuring clarity for partners
• Support new businesses in migrating large employer bases onto Check's infrastructure

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building complex software and delivering production systems end-to-end
• 1-2 years of experience in leading or managing a team
• Hands-on experience with a desire to continue building alongside the team
• Proven track record of driving business outcomes and mentoring engineers
• Familiarity or willingness to learn Python/Django, React, Typescript, AWS, Terraform, Postgres, and Temporal
