Technical Coder I

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Technical Coder I will code same-day surgery accounts, including CPT procedures and diagnosis coding, while ensuring compliance with billing and coding guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Code same-day surgery accounts and review physician documentation to determine appropriate ICD-10 codes
• Meet coding productivity and quality standards while participating in monthly coding meetings for operational improvements
• Utilize coding guidelines and computer applications to ensure accurate coding and timely completion of work assignments

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of an AHIMA or AACP-certified Coding program or equivalent training including Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Coding Guidelines
• Preferred six months of hospital coding experience
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines
• Act 34 clearance required
