Technical ISSO (Remote)

Job Summary

To support the compliance needs of cloud-based software, the full-time Technical ISSO (Remote) will manage the Authority to Operate (ATO) process, translate compliance requirements into actionable instructions for developers, and maintain critical compliance documentation while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the end-to-end Risk Management Framework (RMF) and ATO/cATO processes for government software approval
• Translate complex NIST SP 800-53 controls and DISA STIG requirements into precise technical instructions for developers
• Author and maintain compliance artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSP) and continuous monitoring documentation

Required qualifications

• Proven experience guiding SaaS or cloud-based software through federal ATO, cATO, or FedRAMP authorization processes
• Strong technical literacy with a focus on cloud architecture and containerization
• Hands-on familiarity with NIST frameworks (800-53, 800-37) and DISA STIGs
• Understanding of security best practices within major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Possession of relevant DoD 8570/8140 IAM/IAT certifications, such as CISSP, Security+, or CISM
