Job Summary
To support the NIC Curriculum Modernization initiative, the part-time Technical Writer/Editor (Mid-Level) will manage and coordinate documentation throughout the course development lifecycle, writing and editing technical materials while collaborating with subject matter experts and instructional designers in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and coordinate documentation across the full course development lifecycle
- Write, edit, and rewrite technical materials including user manuals, reports, and training collateral
- Collect technical data and produce clear technical illustrations while ensuring quality control standards are met
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field, or an Associate's degree with equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of technical writing and editing experience, preferably in training, software, or government documentation projects
- Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and rewrite technical manuals and reports
- Proven experience collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for instructional accuracy
- Strong familiarity with document quality control and industry style standards
