Technical Writer III - S1000D
Job Summary
To support advanced aerospace and defense programs, the full-time Technical Writer III - S1000D will develop technical documentation, author structured XML content, and interpret engineering drawings while working remotely on a contract-to-hire basis.
Key responsibilities
- Develop technical, operations, and maintenance manuals, test plans, and contractual documentation
- Author and maintain structured XML content or S1000D data modules
- Manage documentation reviews, revisions, change control, and collaborate with engineers and SMEs to ensure accuracy
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Hands-on structured XML authoring experience
- Proficiency with Oxygen XML Editor, Arbortext, XMetaL, or Structured FrameMaker
- Advanced technical-writing and publishing knowledge
- Experience developing technical, operations, or maintenance manuals
