Technical Writer Team Lead

Job Summary

Leading a team of technical writers in a fully remote capacity, the Communications and Technical Writer Team Lead will manage the development of technical documentation, training materials, and communications to support a large-scale federal IT modernization program for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a team of technical writers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality documentation and manage workload distribution
• Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to create clear, user-focused training materials and technical documentation
• Oversee project scope and communication strategies, ensuring all documentation meets quality standards and compliance requirements

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline, with 6+ years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical writing teams and multiple documentation projects
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate complex information for diverse audiences
• Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, Jira, and Microsoft Office
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
