Job Summary

UltraViolet is hiring an Associate Campaign Director to help us create a real cost for sexism in the U.S.

Organization Description

UltraViolet is a national organization that drives feminist cultural and political change. Through people power and strategic advocacy, we work to improve the lives of women of all identities and backgrounds by tearing down discrimination and creating a cost for sexism. We work on a range of interconnected issues - including violence against women, economic security, reproductive rights, racial justice, and immigration - that impact the lives of women.

UltraViolet's one million members have taken down major misogynists from Bill O'Reilly and Harvey Weinstein to Roger Ailes and Rick Ross, organized nationwide to save the Affordable Care Act, campaigned for justice for women of color treated brutally by law enforcement, forced Yahoo to stop promoting fake anti-abortion clinics, and more. Right now, UltraViolet is focused on stopping the Trump domestic gag rule, fighting against racist, inhumane immigration policies, campaigning to force Target to improve its family leave policy, and mobilizing for what's sure to be an historic election for women.

UltraViolet is an organization run by women, immigrants, people of color, Indigenous women, and LGBTQ+ people. Sexism disparately impacts us and we strongly encourage people from these and other impacted communities to apply.

Job Description

The UltraViolet Associate Campaign Director role is designed for someone new to digital campaigning, but with other organizing, advocacy, or political experience--perhaps as a field or community organizer, or in communications or direct advocacy. As an Associate Campaign Director, you would work side-by-side with Campaign Directors to identify and run high-profile, campaigns that win real victories for women and against sexism. You'll learn how to spot a moment, mobilize in an instant, and run fast-paced campaigns that utilize digital tools (email, social media, text), as well strategic tactics designed to generate headlines (i.e. planes, light projections, billboards) and on the ground mobilizations to pressure key targets. Intrigued? Keep reading.

These are the required skills for this position:
- Two to five years working in organizing, communications, advocacy, or other relevant experience.
- A gut instinct for spotting breakout campaigns -- the ability to spot a moment, the willingness to go after any target, and the determination to keep pushing, even in the face of long odds.

We're hoping you bring 1-2 (or more) of these bonus skills:
- Knowledge about political and cultural issues related to women's issues.
- Experience working with or organizing traditionally underrepresented communities, particularly communities of color.
- Proven writing ability in a relevant setting (think action alerts, not articles).
- Experience leveraging earned media tactics to win campaigns.

You will thrive in this role if you're someone that:
- Likes the idea of working remotely, since we are an all-remote organization;
- Is comfortable juggling multiple tasks and can thrive in a fast-paced environment, - independently or as part of a team;
- Is able, willing, and excited to turn on a dime when opportunity knocks!
- Has a strong desire to learn how to be a top-notch campaigner: how to spot a moment, escalate a campaign, and utilize the media strategically.

Perks of working for UltraViolet:
- Full health, dental and vision for employees and generous coverage for your family;
- Four to six weeks of vacation and 12 paid holidays;
- 401(k) with a five percent employer contribution;
- Sixteen weeks of parental leave, plus support for childcare for work related events and travel;
- A three month paid sabbatical after five years of service;
- A team with a top-notch GIF game and a #pets slack channel that gets surprise presents (sometimes purple cakes!) and knows how to have fun while getting a lot done in a low ego environment!

Salary:
The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $73,000 plus a home office stipend based on the cost of living in your location.
