Location:USA - Telecommute

Status:Part-time, Independent Contractor

The Content Specialist role is a unique blend of two positions: Job Quality Specialist and Content Writer. We have learned that writers who have first-hand experience working with our Telecommute Jobs Database as a Job Quality Specialist are better positioned to communicate our company services, goals, features and benefits.

Job Functions:

Job Quality Specialist - Review online job ads to categorize and create a precise summary to assist job seekers in locating telecommute jobs that match their skillset.

Content Writer - Deliver unique, industry driven and company specific articles that inform and engage our readers on a variety of telecommuting related topics, including telecommuting and company news and trends, job search help, career advice, and work/life balance.  

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify data in online employment ads to identify key points and correctly enter those points into prescribed computer database forms
  • Write one (1) 700- to 800-word article every week
  • Craft original, unique content on assigned telecommuting related topics, taking a creative approach
  • Comply with data integrity and security policies
  • More writing opportunites on website content and press releases may be available

Key Competencies

  • Ability to write on a variety of topics using a conversational, yet professional, tone
  • Accurate keyboard skills with ability to enter data at the required speed. Must be able to type a minimum of 55 wpm with zero errors.
  • Knowledge of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation use
  • Fluent in written and verbal English
  • Able to effectively communicate via written word
  • Quick to respond - as a 100% virtual company, it's highly important we establish open and responsive lines of communication
  • Excellent web-based research skills to perform creditable research as required to support article topics
  • Solid reading comprehension skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment and internet browsing. Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability and willingness to take direction and handle constructive criticism
  • Able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality

Position Requirements

  • Available to work 1 hour per day as a Job Quality Specialist between the hours of 6:00am and 12:00noon eastern, Monday – Friday
  • Ability to write and submit one (1) 700- to 800-word article every week before Friday 8:00am eastern
  • Access to, and use of, high-speed internet connection and associated computer with software to perform the work all provided at Contractor’s own expense
  • Work requires use of a desktop or laptop and cannot be performed on a smartphone or tablet

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year verifiable work-from-home experience
  • Established and verifiable prior paid freelance writing experience
  • College degree or two years of relevant experience

Compensation

For Job Quality Specialist work, hourly billable rate is based on metrics. We believing in paying for performance. The faster and more accurate a contractor is, the more they make. After 2 weeks of consistent work, contractor will be eligible to earn up to $14.50 per hour. During the first two weeks of learning the tools needed to perform the job, the rate of pay is set at $9.00 per hour. Once Contractor is up-to-speed and performing at our minimum base rate, hourly billable rate will be determined based on contractor’s individual metrics.

For content creation, articles are paid at $20.00 - $25.00 per article, depending on the amount of research needed and/or the complexity of the assignment, and a byline.

Payment Terms

Contractors invoice Virtual Vocations for services rendered once per calendar month. Contractors are paid at the beginning of each month for work completed during the prior month. Contractors must be able to accept ACH direct deposits.

Qualification

To qualify for the Content Specialist role with Virtual Vocations, contractors must submit and successfully pass a Sample Article Review, where payment will be made if we elect to use the article.

After a candidate passes the Sample Article Review, he/she will be placed in self-directed training with the goal of passing a practical assessment to work as a Job Quality Specialist. Time spent on the practical assessment will be paid at the billable rate of $9.00 per hour.
