Job Summary
A healthcare company is in need of a Telecommute Inpatient Medical Coder.
Must be able to:
- Review medical record documentation and accurately assign appropriate ICD-9 / ICD-10 diagnoses and procedure codes
- Assure that assigned codes support the documented reason for the visit and medical necessity of outpatient accounts
- Maintain competency and accuracy while utilizing tools of the trade, such as the 3M encoder
Skills and Requirements Include:
- 2 year/Associates Degree in HIM / Coding Certification
- RHIA or RHIT or CCS or COC & CIC
- Minimum two years acute care coding experience, to include both inpatient and outpatient experience
- Satisfactory completion of Anatomy and Physiology as well as Medical Terminology
- Knowledge of Clinical Documentation and query processes
- Thorough knowledge of medical record content to include electronic medical records
