OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is a key position in the development of the software products that developers are creating. The Product Owner serves as the decision maker, guiding development work for their product. In order to successfully guide the work, the product owner must be the product expert. Working within the Agile software development process, the Product Owner will serve as the driver of business value as products (and product improvements) are conceived, executed, and released into the market. In order to successfully guide product work, the Product Owner must become knowledgeable about both the products we offer and our customers' needs. Business value is optimized by creating products that users are delighted to use and buyers want to purchase.


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and communicate product strategy; guide development work according to that strategy
Drive business value for the product; prioritizing work (backlog) according to such value, and communicating that value to the team and stakeholders
Build, groom, and maintain product backlog
Write user stories that properly communicate the required work - effectively represent user needs, explain the goal; and provide clear acceptance criteria
Triage bugs through understanding risks of proposed solutions, severity, user impact, dependencies, and disruption to current sprint
Communicate with Sales / Marketing team about status of product work (including bug fixes) and provide key points for new feature and product launch communications
Must be highly accessible to the scrum team - available to answer questions and give direction
Work collaboratively with the development team and UX designer to design products that delight customers
Determines when user stories are completed / acceptable for release

Business acumen - able to prioritize work based on best business outcome
Detail-oriented with understanding of how each detail impacts the success of the product
Excellent follow-through on tasks, communications, planning, and issue resolution
Keen understanding of user experience design and its importance to product development
Ability to say no when necessary and protect the scope of a given project through fact-based decision-making
Able to communicate product vision to the development team and gain buy-in; this includes written and oral communication skills (writing user stories, discussing details with groups and individuals, presenting a vision for the product)
Understanding of the Agile software development process and the product owner's key role
Superior problem solving skills with the drive to initiate solutions


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (preferably in business, computer science, or related field; if not in related field must be able to show business acumen and technical aptitude)
At least two years experience in a product owner or product management role
Agile training and/or experience strongly preferred
Experience with JIRA/Confluence preferred but not required


LOCATION
KickBack Rewards Systems is based in Twin Falls, ID, but this position is open to remote employees within the United States
