Job Summary

An international development consultancy has an open position for a Telecommute USAID Legal Advisor.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing support to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Afghanistan Mission
  • Providing legal and ethics advice and counsel on matters of U.S., international, and local law in Afghanistan
  • Counselling, collaborating, and coordinating with Mission colleagues in Kabul, or alternative overseas location(s) and working with U.S. Embassy colleagues regarding matters of local law and privileges and immunities under international law

Qualifications for this position include:

  • University degree at Law (LLB) degree and six (6) years of professional work experience
  • License to practice law in Afghanistan and be a member in good standing of the Afghan bar
  • Progressively more responsible experience of legal positions or equivalent experience with an international donor organization, a U.S. government agency, a law firm, or other international/local organization
  • Experience in project administration and management procedures
  • Proven comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, principles, techniques, and practices in the area of law
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of development and reform in Afghanistan
