Job Summary

A computer technology company has a current position open for a Telecommuting DevOps and Hadoop Administrator.

Individual must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Taking the lead in ongoing administration of Hadoop infrastructure
  • Developing scripts and tools to automate common Hadoop administration tasks
  • Work with the data infrastructure teams to identify areas of the Hadoop infrastructure that can be improved

Qualifications Include:

  • 5+ years in system administration: system monitoring, storage capacity management, performance tuning, etc
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet or Chef) and with scripting languages such as Ruby or Python
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in deploying and administering a large Hadoop cluster
  • Experience configuring and using cluster-wide monitoring tools such as OpenTSDB, Splunk, and Grafana
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation with 24x7 availability requirements
