Temporary Farm Assistant
Job Summary
Supporting the maintenance of the Governors Island Teaching Garden, the full-time Temporary Farm Assistant will perform daily farm tasks, lead volunteers, and assist with educational programming until November 24th.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily farm-related tasks including planting, weeding, and harvesting
- Coordinate and manage volunteer activities and educational garden lessons
- Track farm operations and assist with the construction of the teaching garden
Required qualifications
- Experience in small farm production, preferably organic
- Background in teaching youth or adults in non-formal education settings
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and local food issues
- Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
