Job Summary
To support a flexible work environment, the part-time Tennessee Licensed Outpatient Coding Specialist will assign diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient surgical services while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining high accuracy standards in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS in accordance with CMS requirements
- Maintain a minimum accuracy rate of 95% on quality reviews and adhere to productivity standards
- Collaborate with medical staff to clarify documentation and ensure compliance with coding regulations
Required qualifications
- Associate degree in a health-related field preferred
- Minimum of one year of outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital preferred
- Certifications such as Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
- Familiarity with Ambulatory Payment Categories (APCs) and Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) guidelines
- Knowledge of coding compliance and medical necessity guidelines
