Tennessee Licensed Senior Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support coding accuracy and compliance, the part-time Tennessee Licensed Senior Coding Specialist will independently review, assign, and abstract diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient encounters while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Organizes and prioritizes complex coding work to meet regulatory requirements and hospital targets
• Assigns appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes to accurately reflect resource utilization during patient encounters
• Acts as a clinical coding subject matter expert, initiating coding queries and identifying documentation clarification opportunities

Required qualifications:

• Tennessee Licensed Senior Coding Specialist certification
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in inpatient coding
• High School Diploma or GED
• Advanced knowledge of medical coding, terminology, and compliance regulations
• Experience in training and developing coding staff
