Tennessee Licensed Senior Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support accurate coding practices in a remote environment, the full-time Tennessee Licensed Senior Coding Specialist will review, assign, and abstract diagnostic and procedural codes for gastroenterology encounters while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing training to staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop efficient workflows to prioritize complex coding tasks and ensure compliance with hospital targets
• Utilize coding classification systems to ensure accurate code selection and address documentation gaps
• Provide guidance and support to coding staff on complex coding scenarios and stay updated on coding regulations

Required Qualifications

• Tennessee Licensed Senior Coding Specialist certification
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in coding, specifically in gastroenterology
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient facility coding practices
• Certifications such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) are preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
