Job Summary
Serving as the primary legal authority on pharmacy benefit management matters, the remote Texas Licensed Assistant General Counsel will advise executive leadership on strategy, regulatory developments, and business risk while providing backup legal support for other business units.
Key responsibilities
- Advise executive leadership on strategy, regulatory developments, and business risk for the PBM business unit
- Interpret and apply relevant laws, including state PBM laws, federal PBM reform, and HIPAA
- Structure, draft, and negotiate contracts while identifying legal and compliance issues and offering tailored solutions
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active Bar license
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with significant in-house experience at a pharmacy benefit manager or health insurance carrier
- Strong understanding of state and federal laws governing pharmacy benefit managers, ERISA, and HIPAA
- Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to translate business goals into agreements and navigate legal issues effectively
