Job Summary
To support the cancer registry team, the part-time Texas Licensed Cancer Registrar will assist in follow-up, casefinding, and abstracting while enrolled in a Cancer Information Management Program and working towards obtaining CTR credentials.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination of cancer conferences and complete established competencies during the introductory period
- Demonstrate understanding and competency in ICD-O coding, FORDS, and reporting requirements for the Texas Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base
- Meet all internal and external training targets while progressively developing skills in cancer registry functions
Required qualifications
- Associate's Degree in an Allied Health related field from an accredited institution
- Enrollment in a National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) accredited Cancer Information Management program
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Cancer Registry, Health Information Management, or a related Allied Health field
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must obtain Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification within 18 months of hire
