Job Summary
To support a high-volume hospital cancer registry, the full-time Texas Licensed Cancer Registrar will manage case-finding and abstracting core data, ensuring compliance with ACoS guidelines and Texas State Department of Health Services requirements while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Identifies and abstracts data from patient medical records, including demographics and treatment information
- Codes data into the database according to protocol requirements and maintains follow-up percentages as mandated
- Educates registry personnel on data collection methods and participates in continuing education programs
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cancer registry or related field
- Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) preferred
- General knowledge of healthcare modalities, therapies, and terminology
- Ability to abstract and code diagnosis and treatment data using standard registry coding references
