Job Summary
To support the coding and reimbursement process, the part-time Texas Licensed Coding Specialist will assist with basic coding tasks and claim reviews remotely while applying foundational knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes under supervision.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with basic coding tasks and claim reviews to ensure initial coding accuracy
- Work with senior staff to understand denial reasons and prepare simple, low dollar appeals
- Gain exposure to payer guidelines, medical billing workflows, and coding systems while developing professional competency
Required qualifications
- Medical Billing and Coding Certification
- Certified Professional Coder - Apprentice (CPC-A)
- 1+ years of experience in healthcare billing, coding, or collections
- Exposure to CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding through coursework, internship, or revenue cycle work experience
- Basic understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), Microsoft Office, and data entry
