Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding of inpatient medical records, the full-time Texas Licensed Coding Specialist will review and code records in compliance with current guidelines while working remotely, and may also mentor junior coders.
Key responsibilities
- Code inpatient accounts using ICD-10 CM/PCS, ensuring compliance with official coding guidelines
- Accurately abstract required data elements and identify when physician queries are necessary for clarification
- Maintain quality and productivity standards while mentoring and training junior coding staff as needed
Required qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of acute hospital-based coding experience
- Experience working in a remote environment
- Texas Licensed Coding Specialist certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS) upon hire
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field preferred
