Job Summary

To support coding operations, the full-time Texas Licensed Coding Specialist will review and code inpatient and outpatient medical records remotely, ensuring compliance with current coding guidelines and mentoring junior coders as needed.

Key responsibilities
  • Code inpatient accounts using ICD-10 CM/PCS while adhering to official coding guidelines
  • Abstract required data elements and identify when physician queries are necessary for clarification
  • Maintain quality and productivity standards set by the organization and mentor junior coding staff
Required qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of acute hospital-based coding experience
  • Experience working in a remote environment
  • Texas Licensed Coding Specialist certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS) upon hire
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field preferred
  • Expert knowledge of coding-related guidelines and practices
