Job Summary
To support coding operations, the full-time Texas Licensed Coding Specialist will review and code inpatient and outpatient medical records remotely, ensuring compliance with current coding guidelines and mentoring junior coders as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Code inpatient accounts using ICD-10 CM/PCS while adhering to official coding guidelines
- Abstract required data elements and identify when physician queries are necessary for clarification
- Maintain quality and productivity standards set by the organization and mentor junior coding staff
Required qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of acute hospital-based coding experience
- Experience working in a remote environment
- Texas Licensed Coding Specialist certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS) upon hire
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field preferred
- Expert knowledge of coding-related guidelines and practices
