Job Summary
The full-time Texas Licensed Coding Specialist will code and verify charge data for emergency department, outpatient clinic, and inpatient encounters, ensuring accurate billing and compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely from Texas, Arkansas, Wisconsin, or Florida.
Key responsibilities
- Code, abstract, and conduct charge quality reviews on various patient encounters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital policies
- Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes utilizing ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding standards, while assisting in training other coders
- Maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quality reviews and productivity standards, while updating patient databases and resolving discrepancies
Required qualifications
- High school diploma and completion of an approved coding program or a graduate of a Health Information Management program
- Two years of coding experience in an acute care setting or diverse clinical specialties
- Certification as a CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or equivalent from recognized organizations
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Proficiency in coding software applications, with knowledge of Epic EHR and 3M 360 preferred
