Texas Licensed Communication Assistant

Job Summary

To support communication access for the Deaf and hard of hearing community, the full-time and part-time Texas Licensed Communication Assistant will facilitate telephone calls between Deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Relay telephone calls between Deaf, hard of hearing, and speech-impaired consumers and hearing consumers
• Utilize complex computer communication software to transcribe and communicate effectively
• Maintain a calm demeanor while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to type at 60 words per minute with minimal errors
• Excellent customer service experience
• Must be able to pass skill assessments administered by a local recruiter
