Job Summary

Supporting the IJC team and pro bono attorney volunteers, the part-time Texas Licensed Habeas Attorney will gather information on habeas in multiple jurisdictions and assist in mentoring volunteers on habeas cases, requiring approximately 5-10 flexible hours per week in a fully remote capacity.

Key responsibilities
  • Research and gather information about habeas in various jurisdictions, creating and editing manuals and practice advisories
  • Assist in the mentorship of attorney volunteers, providing guidance and answering questions on habeas cases
  • Participate in training webinars and ensure habeas materials are kept up-to-date
Required qualifications
  • J.D. active and in good standing with a U.S. state bar
  • Member of at least one federal district court bar
  • Experience with at least one Texas district court strongly preferred
  • Immigration habeas experience required
  • Commitment to the mission of the Immigration Justice Campaign and the American Immigration Council
