Job Summary
To support a trauma 1 facility, the remote Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will analyze complex medical records, assign diagnostic and procedure codes, and ensure compliance with third-party payor requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret inpatient records to identify and accurately bill for services
- Assign and sequence correct diagnostic and procedure codes in compliance with regulations
- Obtain clarification on conflicting or ambiguous documentation as needed
Required qualifications
- At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting
- RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding and DRG assignment
- Familiarity with legal and policy directives pertinent to coding
- Experience using various EMRs and encoders or ability to learn quickly
