Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support a trauma 1 facility, the remote Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will analyze complex medical records, assign diagnostic and procedure codes, and ensure compliance with third-party payor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret inpatient records to identify and accurately bill for services
• Assign and sequence correct diagnostic and procedure codes in compliance with regulations
• Obtain clarification on conflicting or ambiguous documentation as needed

Required qualifications

• At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting
• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding and DRG assignment
• Familiarity with legal and policy directives pertinent to coding
• Experience using various EMRs and encoders or ability to learn quickly
