Job Summary
To support a top-notch healthcare company, the full-time Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will review health record documentation, assign codes and DRGs, and ensure accurate billing for inpatient records in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews and interprets health record documentation to identify primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures for coding
- Calculates correct MS-DRG, Severity of Illness, and Risk of Mortality levels according to official coding guidelines
- Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Specialists to improve coding accuracy and documentation quality
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in a health information-related field preferred
- Completion or training in ICD-10 CM/PCS with a required competency of 95% accuracy
- Two years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting required
- AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC) required upon hire
- RHIT or RHIA credentials preferred upon hire
