Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Analyzing and interpreting complex medical records, the remote Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately assign and sequence diagnostic and procedure codes for Trauma 1 facility inpatient services, ensuring compliance with third-party payor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and sequence correct diagnostic and procedure codes for inpatient services
• Obtain clarification on conflicting or ambiguous documentation when necessary
• Ensure compliance with legal and policy directives related to coding

Required qualifications

• At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a Trauma 1 setting
• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding and DRG assignment
• Familiarity with various EMRs and encoders
• Understanding of confidentiality requirements in coding
