Job Summary
To support the health information management team, the full-time Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will review and interpret health record documentation, assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes, and utilize coding software, all while working remotely with flexible hours.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews health record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for inpatient coding
- Assigns and sequences ICD-10-CM and PCS codes according to established guidelines and compliance policies
- Maintains coding proficiency and quality by staying updated on coding guidelines and completing required training
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Completion of a hospital coding course/program or Texas Health Resource's Clinical Coding Apprenticeship Program required
- 1 year of inpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital setting required
- Certification as CCA, COC, RHIT, CPC, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P required upon hire
- Basic knowledge of automated encoding systems and electronic health record systems
