Thai Linguist

Job Summary

To support sensitive law enforcement efforts, the part-time Thai Linguist will perform real-time and recorded transcription from Thai to English, ensuring accurate and court-ready documentation while working remotely on an as-needed basis with potential for up to 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities:

• Listen to live or recorded communications in Thai and produce verbal and written synopses and transcriptions
• Communicate pertinent information to law enforcement personnel in a timely manner during live monitoring
• Transcribe and translate relevant calls and documents, maintaining a master list of slang terms and codes used in the project

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in Thai
• Knowledge of Thai colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions
• Ability to achieve a score of 3 or better on a third-party language assessment in English and Thai
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
