Job Summary
To support a growing medical coding team, the full-time remote Trauma Surgery Coder will review and accurately code professional services, including evaluation and management, diagnostics, surgeries, and procedures, ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer guidelines for optimal reimbursement.
Key responsibilities:
- Review and accurately code Trauma Surgery and E/M cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner
- Communicate with leadership on coding or documentation issues/trends and participate in department meetings
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and ensure adherence to internal coding policies
Required qualifications:
- High School diploma required; Associates or BS degree preferred
- Successful completion of an AHIMA or AAPC certified program with an active CPC or CCS-P certification
- A minimum of 5 years of physician coding experience, including at least 3 years in Trauma Surgery
- Proficient knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 coding, and Medicare/Medicaid billing policies
- Experience with Microsoft Office and electronic healthcare record systems; remote work experience preferred
