Job Summary
To support civil rights advocacy, the full-time Trial Attorney (DC Licensed) will manage trial preparations, conduct legal research, and engage in appellate litigation while working remotely in or near Washington, DC.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with trial teams on all aspects of trial preparation, including fact investigation and drafting legal briefs
- Engage in appellate litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, recommending settlements when appropriate
- Participate in speaking engagements and provide training to CAIR staff on civil rights issues affecting the American Muslim community
Required qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the bar (any jurisdiction)
- Minimum of three years of experience in civil rights law, with appellate practice preferred
- No disciplinary actions on record or pending
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Understanding of civil rights issues relating to American Muslims and a passion for CAIR's mission
